Lean Six Sigma Belt Training

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is a combination of two powerful continuous improvement methodologies.

Lean is a TPS derivative, which as a concept was coined by Daniel Roos and James Womack in their book “The Machine that changed the world”. Originally, Lean is considered as the “Western translation of Toyota Production System (TPS) concepts”.

Six Sigma is a statistical measure of excellence. Business processes performing at Six Sigma levels of performance are probable to make 99.999998% good quality products, i.e. 2 bad products in 1 Billion total products.

How does Lean Six Sigma projects linked to training? Lean Six Sigma projects are initiated as strategic impact projects for the company. Employees of a company receive/ can opt for Lean Six Sigma training at four levels:
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training
  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Training

Lean Six Sigma projects are led by the Champion of the project and is funded by the sponsor, who is typically considered a C-Class executive.

Which Belt training should you choose?

Although you would have a specific need identified, we will request you to undergo a pre-training assessment. This pre-training assessment contains a list of 20 basic questions which are elementary from a statistical context. The scores from this test will lead you to the correct Belt training.

As a standard, find below the training pre-requisites: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
  • The individual must have elementary knowledge of Lean Six Sigma/ The individual must have passed the free Yellow Belt Assessment module from The School of Continuous Improvement.
  • The individual must have a grasp of basic statistical metrics.
  • The individual must have the willingness not just to learn, but also apply in projects.
  • After completion of training, the trainee must apply the knowledge to projects.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • The individual must have completed Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from any institution and be able to submit evidence of at least 1 completed project.
  • The individual must be able to pass a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt pre-assessment test with a score of 80% and above.
  • The individual must come from an organization where Lean Six Sigma is currently being implemented/ top leadership wishes to support this initiative.
Certification Requirements
  • For a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, the trainees should be able to complete 1 LOB specific project within 3 months of training completion resulting in estimated annual savings of 15% – 20% of Operating sales.
  • For a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, the trainees should be able to complete 2 LOB projects/ 1 Enterprise wide deployment within 6 months of training completion resulting in estimated annual savings of 30% – 50% of Operating sales.

Our Lean Six Sigma Belt Training programs (Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) are accredited by Council for Six Sigma Certifications.
